Icelandic vodka brand Reyka’s brand ambassador Fab Latham and colleague Niall Blake-Knox have created a running club for London bartenders launching this January 27th and kicking off in Victoria Park in East London. Fab has long been an advocate for spending time in the great outdoors and the ‘Reyka Runners’ group will be another notch on his Adventurivity mission. Adventurivity being the combination of adventure and creativity; a mindset promoting the use of nature and adventure in order to build confidence, boost creativity and act as a balancing tool for bartender’s often hectic nocturnal lifestyles. Adventurivity takes inspiration from the Icelander’s adventurously resourceful outlook on life.
Fab and Niall will host weekly 5k and 10k running meets every Monday at midday in Victoria Park. Every fourth Monday they’ll take the runners to another location such as hill sprints in Greenwich Park, or cross country runs through Hampstead Heath. The Reyka Runners will also be motivated to run in their own time. To keep the Reyka Runners running, Reyka has created an incentivised platform based on hitting milestones. To qualify to win items from a whole host of bespoke Reyka running gear, bartenders will have to complete ‘runs’. Runs will be qualified as anything over 3km and running swag will include items such as t-shirts, ultra-light jackets, bum bags, headbands & water bottles.
In addition to the incentives, the Reyka Runners who turn up regularly to the weekly meets will be automatically entered into bi-monthly prize draws which include goodies such as Garmin watches, vouchers & places for more adventurous runs such as the Dramathon in Speyside.
To top it all off, the 2 runners with the highest distance by the end of 2020 will be taken on an all-expenses paid trip to run the Reykjavik Marathon in 2021!
Latham says “I’m not an accomplished runner at all, but I love getting outdoors and running in London parks as it’s such a great environment to achieve clarity of thought and wash away any niggling doubts. I’m hoping that my running insecurities will also appeal to other less qualified athletes and get more people out in nature”
Bartenders should download the Strava app and request to join the Reyka Runners club. Once accepted their progress will be monitored weekly. Once they hit the set milestones, Reyka will get their well-earned prizes sent out to them. Easy!
What are the milestones?
Reyka Runners will be rewarded for hitting 10, 25, 50, 75 & 100 runs. It will be the first 50 bartenders to hit each milestone that will win the prizes. Any runners who miss a milestone will not miss out on the next so keep on running!
Reyka Runners meets will be held in all weathers, always on nature’s treadmill, and never in a gym.
